Regarding foster care

Our Urban Dog & Cat Boarding Program partners with foster families in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, as well as parts of Maryland and Northern Virginia. Furthermore, we offer convenient pick-up and drop-off locations even if you’re not in Washington, D.C.! Most importantly, when you board a dog through Urban Dog & Cat Rescue, you help us save another animal from shelters with high euthanasia rates.

First, we expect foster families to care for the pet for at least two weeks; however, we prefer them to care for the pet until it is adopted. In most cases, our pets are adopted within 4-6 weeks. However, we cannot guarantee this timeframe, as some pets are adopted quickly while others take longer. Ultimately, we cannot predict the exact time. If you have travel plans, we will make appropriate arrangements for your pet.

Urban Dog & Cat Rescue will cover all pre-approved veterinary check-up costs and provide a cage, “Adopt Me” vest, collar, leash, harness, identification card, and other necessary supplies during your boarding period. All you need to do is provide a home, care and food (and take your foster pet to the vet as needed).
